Family Drug Interventions

Family drug interventions help families stop enabling an addict's behavior, and family interventions bring the addict out of denial and show the ways in which loved ones have been hurt. Many substance abusers believe that their use only affects them, however when they are confronted with how they have hurt other people it helps them to see their addiction clearly. The purpose of family interventions is to help the addicted family member seek treatment and find long-term recovery.

Sober Coach

Since each family functions differently, family drug interventions must do the same. Once a family has contacted an intervention consultant or sober coach the process of helping the addict has already begun. The intervention specialist or sober coach will explain the family drug intervention process and answer any questions that the family might have. After this initial consultation, the family will decide whether or not they want to proceed with a family intervention, however in most cases they will find it is the necessary and most desirable route to take. The family and sober coach will set up another phone appointment in which they discuss the details including the main goal of the family drug intervention as well as which loved ones will be involved.

Family Interventions

At National Rehabs our intervention specialists have worked on numerous family drug interventions and understand the importance of keeping the family informed and taking the needs of each individual case into consideration. The sober coach will help the family decide on a time and location in which the family intervention will take place, and will also meet with the family prior to the intervention to finalize plans. Before the intervention, the sober coach usually asks the family to stay committed to the boundaries and consequences they have set for the addict. If the family is unable to stick to this commitment and gives into the manipulation of the individual, chances for a successful family intervention are minimal.

A family intervention that goes as planned will result in the individual agreeing to a specified course of drug abuse treatment or a drug rehab intervention program, depending on the severity of the addiction. National Rehabs is dedicated to the well being of each individual and oversees all aspects of recovery from the family intervention to an appropriate aftercare plan. If you have a member of your family that is addicted to drugs or alcohol, contact National Rehabs today and learn how you can help by initiating a family intervention. Recovery is possible.
